Canadian rapper Mathematik (AKA Math-U) released Ecology, his debut album, in '99. Although few hip-hop connoisseurs would recognize the name...they should. He's pretty dope. I have to admit, he's not the most lyrical, doesn't have a flow akin to Rakim's, and doesn't rhyme over Premo-quality beats. But what he does do, very successfully, is work with what little he had to create a unique and intriguing underground album. Content on this album spans mostly conscious material. One track that kinda caught my attention was Industrialized. At first I thought he was gonna diss the mainstream methods of the big-label rappers, but instead he takes a stance that few in the underground take - he thinks industrialization of hip-hop is a good thing, under moderation. Lyrically, all the songs are on-point here, though. I'm not sure who did the beats, they're not the best, but they match Mathematik's lazy voice and slow flow. Only problem with this album is that there's really no outlet to buy it, if you Google the album, search Amazon, and many other music websites, you can't find it at all. Oh well.
